Only THE truth will make you free!

There are many people searching for what is real. It seems the institutions that we have trusted to speak the truth and therefore establish reality seldom present what is real. Many people today live in a reality of their own making, and their own choosing. Moral relativism seems to be the order of the day. The mainstream media culture does not celebrate the truth, but rather celebrates those who lie and spin their own version of reality, calling it the truth.

This has become so prevalent in our culture that a multitude of people do not know or cannot conceive reality. The greatest danger of the alternate realities in which people live is that there is no accountability to or respect for what is truly real. If I think it is real, and I feel that it is real, then it must be real, right? Many live their lives this way, but there is only One who establishes and is the ultimate arbiter of reality, and He is not a human being. “God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Num 23:19)

Since God cannot lie, what He says is reality. The Creator of heaven and earth is not moved by our thoughts and feelings of what is real. He IS real, and judges every action of man by His standard. The ways of mankind are ever open to him, and He will always act according to His word and what He has promised to do. No matter what reality I create for myself and others, and no matter what I think and feel about life, God’s Word always has the final say. As Proverbs 16:25 tells us, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

The future is not bright for those who choose to live in a reality of their own making. One day, each one of us will stand before God to give account for our lives. The reality we choose is very important. The Scripture tells us the end of those who live by their own ways, but it also tells us the end of those who choose to live by God’s ways. He promises, and He delivers for those who live by what is truly real. He says “A faithful man shall abound with blessings’ (Pro 28:20) He is not speaking here about our ultimate destination of heaven, but the blessings He pours out on us in this lifetime. These blessings are enumerated in Deuteronomy chapter 28.

“You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God: …..Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.” (Deut 28:2+6) This is just one of the many blessings listed in this chapter that will come upon those who live by the reality that God established. The choice before us to live by our own reality and our own ways or to live by the word of God. “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! ( Deut 30:19) I made my choice for the reality of a relationship with God and His blessings. I pray you will choose the same!
