We have been experiencing some incredibly beautiful days here in Panama City Beach. The expansive blue sky, white sands, and emerald green waters make up a vibrant color palette God selected for us to enjoy. While many think that the earth and sky evolved over time, I have discovered that every detail of the creation was planned and executed by our Creator.

When I observe the canvas that our Father paints with every sunrise and sunset, I cannot conclude that the blending of colors and the organization of them does not follow a design. When I smell the fresh morning air and experience a summer’s evening breeze, I know that chance is the unlikeliest of originators. Consider the other planets of our solar system, which have their own beauty when viewed from space, but are barren wastes inhospitable to man or other terrestrial forms of life. The earth is a special place for a special creation: the children of God.

When I read a story, I conclude there must be an author. When I hear a song, I know there must be a composer. When I see a painting, I know there must be an artist. Faced with these facts in evidence, I know that the earth and everything in it is evidence of a Creator. The Bible tells us in Psalm 24:1-2 “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.”

The danger in believing that this incredible earth and all that is in it came into being through cosmic evolution is that men are emboldened to live lives that are also ruled by chance. If there is no Creator, then there is no authority above the mind of man. Whatever a man thinks becomes his God. When men find no Creator in the evidence they see around them, they are encouraged to live their lives in a manner that assumes no responsibility for their actions. If there is no God of Creation, then there is no God at all, and no future judgment

Paul understood this when he wrote “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” (Rom 1:20) Those who stand before God on the day of judgment and say “but I never heard that You existed”, or “I didn’t think You existed” will be without excuse. God’s existence is proven by the existence of what He has created.

As you experience the approaching Summer, look around you. Enjoy what God has created for you. Be thankful that He made you for the purpose of enjoying it, and remember His creative power is still at work through His Word. This world was created by God with you in mind-now that’s something to be happy about!
